Shopee Thailand Cat Food Data Set – April 2024

This download contains two historical keyword-search extracts from Shopee Thailand dated April 12, 2024. Use the files to practise listing deduplication, assortment classification and offer comparisons. They do not establish current prices or represent every cat-food product sold in Thailand.

Coverage of the two files

The popular workbook contains 1,030 listing observations and 954 distinct shop/item pairs. The best_selling workbook contains 500 observations, each with a distinct pair. Both have one worksheet named Sheet1, 23 fields, country Thailand and currency THB. The recorded date is 4/12/2024; the filenames identify the same day as 12-04-2024.

There are 315 pairs shared between the two extracts. Combining both files gives 1,530 observations but 1,139 distinct listings across 305 shop IDs. The listing key is the combination of shopId and itemId. A listing can contain several sizes or flavors, so distinct listings are not necessarily distinct product models or variants. Keep each source filename and sorting label when combining the workbooks.

What the fields mean

Search and identity: keyword, localizedKeyword, name, url, imageUrl, itemId, shopId and brand. The search keyword is อาหารแมว, with the English label Cat food. Treat the popular and best_selling filename labels as collection context, not proof of a complete market ranking. Preserve identifiers as text.

Market and snapshot: country, currency and updateTime. These files describe one historical date. They do not contain a daily price series or a row-level collection timestamp that orders repeated observations within the day.

Prices: price, price_before_discount, discountPercent, price_min, price_max, price_min_before_discount and price_max_before_discount. Minimum and maximum prices differ in 404 popular rows and 221 best_selling rows. Check the selected variant before treating a listing-level price as the price of every package described in its title.

Captured activity: stock, sold, historySold, rating_count and rating. These are counters or scores, not individual orders or review text. The files do not define the reporting window for sold. Do not label it April sales, multiply a sales counter by price to claim revenue, or interpret rating counts as reviews written during April.

Correcting the promotional totals

The original artwork says “over 2.5 million reviews and 1,500 products.” The delivered files contain listing observations, not downloadable individual reviews. Adding rating_count across every row gives 4,101,609, but this double-counts repeated listings. Keeping one counter per distinct shop/item pair produces a sum of 2,424,626 or 2,424,627, depending on which observation is retained for one conflicting pair. Neither total supports a claim of over 2.5 million unique review records.

The popular extract contains 76 repeated observations beyond its distinct pairs. Together with overlap between the files, the combined archive contains 391 observations beyond its 1,139 distinct pairs. One repeated listing group has differing rating counts, ten have differing stock counters and four have differing historySold counters. Retain conflicting observations for review and document a selection rule; the date alone does not identify the latest value.

Classification matters too. Some search results mention dogs or mixed pet uses. Separate cat meals, treats and ambiguous products before comparing assortments. There are 119 blank brand cells in popular and 60 in best_selling; do not silently assign brands from seller names. Zero reference prices appear in 532 and 178 rows respectively. Treat those zeros as unavailable for a reference-price discount calculation.

Worked example: price per sachet

Row 3 of the popular workbook names Lifemate Care+ Cat Treat แบบ 12 ซอง, a title describing 12 sachets. It records a price of THB 180, with minimum and maximum prices both 180. If that offer is for all 12 sachets, the conditional price is 180 ÷ 12 = THB 15 per sachet. The reference price is THB 350, while the captured discount field is rounded to 49%.

The record identifies shop 593940599 and item 20887457459. Verify the selected pack before comparing the calculation with another offer. The title does not provide a verified net weight, so this example does not calculate a price per kilogram. Shipping, vouchers and present-day availability are outside this historical comparison. Compare treats with equivalent products rather than treating them as interchangeable with complete meals.

For another pack-price example, see the April 2024 chocolate-search archive multipack example. It shows why a keyword match must be classified before its package price is compared. Apply the checking method to equivalent products; do not combine these separate samples or treat their historical prices as current quotes.

Suggested analysis steps

Keep the original files and work on copies. Add source/sort labels, group by shopId plus itemId, and flag repeated or conflicting values before aggregating. Classify product type and species relevance, preserve missing brands, and match offer price to the selected package. Report the observation date, exclusions and deduplication rule beside any summary. Listing counts describe this sample; they do not measure market share or customer preference.

For another pet-food cleanup example, see the April 2024 dog-food archive guide. It is a separate keyword sample, not extra records to add to this cat-food total. For a separately specified collection or repeat snapshots, discuss fields, coverage and schedule through our Shopee data scraping service.
