Download two historical Shopee listing files for Thailand sunscreen and Singapore sun care. They contain 828 records, each dated October 21, 2024. This guide explains the fields, missing values and variant-price checks needed before comparing products. The archive does not represent current offers.

October 2024 Shopee sunscreen archive cover for Singapore and Thailand with sunscreen brand logos.
Original Singapore and Thailand archive cover. The two listing files are dated October 21, 2024; the pictured analysis themes are not measured findings.

Coverage of the two Excel files

Market Listings Shop IDs
Thailand 588 275
Singapore 240 139
  • Thailand (THB): 11046061-Sunscreen-thailand.xlsx.
  • Singapore (SGD): 11012438-SunCare-singapore.xlsx.

Each file contains one worksheet, Sheet1, with 21 columns and a header row. Shop counts are distinct shopId values within each market, not globally distinct businesses. Every shop-and-item ID pair is unique within its own file. The follow-up email provides separate Thailand and Singapore links.

The category labels come from the filenames; there is no category column or documented sampling method. The samples are not guaranteed to cover the entire category or equivalent product types across markets. Keep currency and country attached to every record.

Field guide for a sunscreen comparison

  • Identify the listing: name, url, imageUrl, itemId, shopId, shop_name and brand. Preserve identifiers as text and match country, shop ID and item ID when joining snapshots.
  • Keep the observation context: country, currency and updateTime. Every record stores 10/21/2024; there is no repeated date series in these files.
  • Read the price fields together: price, price_before_discount, discountPercent, price_min, price_max, price_min_before_discount and price_max_before_discount. The ranges do not map individual sizes or bundles to their prices.
  • Interpret ratings and counters cautiously: rating, rating_count, sold and historySold. The files do not define the reporting window for sold. These captured counters cannot be labelled October orders or treated as audited sales.

Data checks before ranking offers

  • Reference price unavailable: 144 Thailand records and 28 Singapore records have price_before_discount equal to zero. Do not divide by that value or interpret it as a verified previous selling price.
  • Different variant prices: 126 Thailand records and 82 Singapore records have different price_min and price_max values. Confirm which size, bundle or formulation receives the selected price.
  • Missing brand labels: 57 Thailand records and 35 Singapore records have blank brand cells. Preserve the originals and document any separately verified brand mapping. A familiar word in a title is not enough to establish authenticity.

Product titles mention attributes such as SPF, PA, volume, lotion, serum, mist or spray, but these are not dedicated structured columns. For example, the Singapore file includes both a Beauty of Joseon listing naming 50 ml and a SKINTIFIC mist listing naming 120 ml. Classify product form and verify the actual purchasable size before comparing unit prices. Seller-written protection claims are not independent product-test results.

Worked example: why the lowest price is not a unit price

Singapore worksheet row 2, item 24000409577 from shop 1111230332, is titled “Beauty Of Joseon Relief Sun: Rice + Probiotics SPF50+ PA++++ (50ml)”. It records SGD 4.60, a reference of SGD 20.00, and a current range of SGD 4.60–24.00.

The reference-price calculation is (20.00 − 4.60) ÷ 20.00 × 100 = 77%, matching the recorded discountPercent. That arithmetic does not prove the reference was previously paid, or that the cheapest option is the 50 ml product named in the title.

If a separately verified variant were exactly one 50 ml unit at SGD 4.60, the calculation would be 4.60 ÷ 50 × 100 = SGD 9.20 per 100 ml. That is a conditional illustration, not a verified unit price for this listing. The workbook lacks the variant-to-volume mapping needed to support it.

For another price-validation pitfall, see the October 2024 facial-cleanser archive. Its Thailand example shows why a stored discount of 100% can result from rounding even when the recorded price is not zero, and how to flag the observation before summarizing prices.

Build an auditable product comparison

  • Retain the original workbooks. In an analysis copy, add verified product form, variant, pack count and net volume or mass, with the evidence used for each value.
  • Compare like-for-like products within THB or SGD first. If converting currencies, record the exchange-rate source and date. The files do not contain exchange rates, shipping, vouchers or final delivered costs.
  • Separate listing observations from conclusions. Ratings and sales counters cannot establish product effectiveness, consumer preference or category market share.
  • For price changes, obtain another dated snapshot and match country, shop, item and variant. A single October observation cannot demonstrate a pricing trend.

The cover names market insights, brand performance, consumer preference and pricing trends as analysis themes. The delivered files are raw listing snapshots, not a report substantiating those claims.
