Download the Beauty Supplement Category Shopee Dataset (October 2024)

Explore historical Shopee beauty-supplement listings from Vietnam and Singapore. The two Excel files contain 720 listing records, all with a recorded date of October 21, 2024. Use this archive to practice product classification, price checks and seller comparisons; it does not describe current offers.

Each workbook has one worksheet, Sheet1, with 21 columns and a header row. Shop counts are distinct shopId values within each country file, not globally distinct businesses. Every shop-and-item ID pair is unique within its own file. The download email provides these two country files.

The category names come from the filenames. The files contain no category column or documented sampling method, so they do not establish full-market coverage or equivalent samples across countries.

The 21 fields and their limits

• Listing and seller identity: name, url, imageUrl, itemId, shopId, shop_name and brand. Preserve IDs as text and combine country, shop ID and item ID when joining files.
• Market and snapshot: country, currency and updateTime. The stored date is 10/21/2024 throughout both files; VND and SGD prices need separate analysis or an explicitly documented conversion.
• Pricing: price, price_before_discount, discountPercent, price_min, price_max, price_min_before_discount and price_max_before_discount. There is no dedicated mapping from each product variant or pack quantity to its price.
• Ratings and counters: rating, rating_count, sold and historySold. These are captured listing values. The reporting period for sold is not defined, so do not label it October sales or use it as a verified transaction count.

Checks before comparing brands or prices

• Missing reference prices: 87 Vietnam records and 60 Singapore records have price_before_discount equal to zero. Treat the reference as unavailable rather than calculating a discount from zero.
• Price ranges: 199 Vietnam records and 103 Singapore records have different price_min and price_max values. Check variant and pack quantity before comparing a price per bottle, sachet or serving.
• Unknown brands: Vietnam has 144 blank brand cells and one literal None value. Singapore has 32 blank brand cells. Keep the original values and document any grouping of missing labels in an analysis copy.

Vietnam worksheet row 2, item 29414109267, records VND 1,000 with a zero reference price, zero rating count and no brand label. Investigate that listing before including it in a typical-price calculation; the file alone cannot explain the low price. Equal minimum and maximum prices do not prove a complete pack definition.

Worked example: reference-price arithmetic

Singapore worksheet row 4 is a Purest Co Collagen Glow Strawberry Smoothie listing, shop 676195575, item 24436104665. Its recorded price is SGD 60.65, reference price SGD 71.35, and current price range SGD 60.65–300.99.

(71.35 − 60.65) ÷ 71.35 × 100 = approximately 15.00%, consistent with the stored discountPercent of 15. This validates the arithmetic of the two recorded prices, not the earlier selling price or final checkout cost. The range spans variants whose quantities are not mapped to prices, so it cannot support a definitive price per serving.

Use the archive for a reproducible comparison

• Retain each original workbook. Add product type, confirmed pack quantity, source filename and any cleaning decisions in a separate working copy.
• Compare like-for-like listings within one currency first. Do not rank raw VND and SGD prices together. If converting, record the exchange-rate source and date; the files supply neither exchange rates nor shipping and checkout-voucher costs.
• Separate seller-written product claims from measured fields. Names, brand labels and ratings do not verify authenticity, ingredients, product safety or health effects.
• For trends, match country, shop ID, item ID and variant across additional dated observations. A single snapshot cannot establish monthly growth, customer preferences or category market share.

The cover lists industry overview, brand performance, customer preferences and pricing trends as possible analysis themes. These raw listing files do not themselves demonstrate those findings. Keep conclusions limited to the observed sample and the definitions you can verify.
